2- Individual Porfolio Print Review Sessions by Alain Briot, Uwe Steinmueller and Jim Collum

Personalized Portfolio print review sessions of Summit participants work will be conducted Saturday afternoon from 1:30 to to 5 PM. These print reviews will only available for a limited number of participants (so that we can devote as much time as we can to your work) and reservations are necessary. Seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis. The sooner you register, the more chances you have to have your work reviewed. Register now and insure your work will be reviewed by Alain Briot, Uwe Steinmueller and Jim Collum.

Each Portfolio Print Review Session will be approximately 10 to 15 minutes per individual, covering at most 4 prints from each participant.

5- Informal exhibition of Summit participants work - New for 2004!

A display area will be available to display framed or unframed work by each Summit participant. If you want to display your work check this option on the conference registration form (there is no obligation to display your work). You can exhibit a maximum of one piece, 12x18 or smaller or one larger piece.

6- Get your work printed on the most recent wide format printers up to 17” x 22”!

Lexjet will have a wide format Epson printer at the Summit and you will be able to get your work printed on it during the summit. Get a 17x22” print of your work on fine art paper at no charge and see how good your work really looks!

7- Meet other Fine Art Photographers

Even if we present a lot of content at our summit, the key of every successful conference is meeting other people. We hope this summit will be a fun place to meet old and make new friends.

Jim Collum has been an active photographer for over 20 years. The title "Landscape Photographer" does not encompass the style and subject matter he chooses to photograph. Rather than grande, his eye leans to a closer, more intimiate vision. Over the years, Jim has shot mainly with a 4x5 camera, printing his own b/w and cibachrome prints. For the past 4 years, the focus has been digital.. both capture and printing. Recently he has moved from inkjet printing, to inkjet negative printing.. with which he then prints platinum and platinum with pigment prints. Jim is currently represented by the Susan Spiritus and Red Ink Studio Galleries.

Uwe Steinmueller will present sessions on workflow, raw files management, profiling (both printers and your entire system) and printing.

Abstract: From digital capture, through digital negative creation and on to the final Platinum Pigment print. Discussion of image selection, photoshop techniques, and tradtional Platinum printing.

Alain Briot: From fine art print to framed gallery-quality piece: how to do mount, sign, mat, frame and display your fine art photographs.

Abstract: Printing your work to the most exacting standards is only the beginning. To showcase your work and present it to galleries, museums and clients you need to sign it, mat it, dry mount it, frame it and present it. How to complete all the steps which follow the printing process, and more importantly how to complete these steps so you achieve museum-quality presentation, is the subject of this presentation. Learn everything you need to know to make a truly impressive presentation of your work. Bypass the problems that affect other artists and which result in poorly displayed and finished prints. Learn from the expert. Alain makes a living selling fine art quality prints and has been mounting, framing and displaying his work in museum quality fashion since 1981.

The portfolio print review Sessions is a fantastic opportunity to have your work reviewed by professional photographers who are creating the images you want to create. Your conference registration gives you the possibility to participate in the Portfolio print review at no extra cost. You can either have your work reviewed or watch the review process. To insure your work is reviewed we recommend you sign up as early as possible as print review seats are both limited and in high demand.

The twp portfolio print review sessions are identical in format. They will take place as a round table discussion with 6 participants seated at each table. Participants need to bring a total of 4 prints maximum. You can bring less than 4 prints if you like. There will be no exception to the maximum number of prints. If you have more than 4 printsyou will need to make a final selection of 4 prints only. Your prints will be reviewed by Alain Briot, Uwe Steinmueller and Jim Collum according to the choices you indicated on your registration form. Each print review will be approximately 10-12 minutes per participant. The choices you made on your registration form will be honored as much as possible.

This presentation is based on Bill Spilman's experience creating and enhancing his photography gallery website using Coppermine Open Source software. Bill will explain how to create a web gallery featuring your work and how to prepare your text and images for the best presentation possible.

One of the Southeast’s most published nature photographers, Byron Jorjorian will draw on his 15+ years of experience to teach you the marketing and organizational strategies you need to build a successful part-time or full-time stock photography business. Some of the topics Byron will cover include: what sells/what doesn’t, storing/filing/tracking and retrieval systems, negotiating rights and prices, legal issues, successful self-promotion campaigns, understanding the market, and more. Whether you are a working pro or thinking of sticking your toe in the photo business, this presentation will have something for you!
