"Outback Photo Review"

Digital Outback Photo announces a major new feature, the

"Outback Photo Review"

To no surprise photography is about photos (that means content) and not only the technique how to make photos (equipment, techniques, ...). Outback Photo wants to balance our technique savy content by this new feature.

Each month the well known fine art photographer Alain Briot and Uwe Steinmueller write an independent review about one photo that was selected for the review of that month. The review is about learning and opening the artists (of course our readers and ours too) perspective.

As important as the reviews by Alain and Uwe are reader comments. We will add them to the review if we feel they add a new perspective.

The Outback Photo Review

  • We will publish one Outback Photo Review per month.
  • The photo should be about landscapes and nature as we as reviewers have more understanding of that world.
  • Deadline for submissions is the 15th of each month.
  • We will select one photo from the submissions (all the other stay in the queue)
  • At about the 20th of the month we will publish the photo with 2 reviews (right now by Alain Briot and Uwe Steinmueller)
  • The selected photo will then be on the front page for about 5 days
  • Readers can send us notes and we may add them if we feel they add to the reviews.
  • The review will stay online for at least 1 year

How to submit

  1. Send one photo only to submissions@outbackphoto.com
  2. The submitter agrees that the review will be published and may contain critical comments. We will ensure that the review is talking about the photo and not offending the artist (also valid for all reader comments)
  3. Photo should be 1200 pixels in the maximum dimension (with lowest possible compression)
  4. Photo should be in JPG format (compression 9 in Photoshop)
  5. Each photo should have a title.
  6. The submitter grants the right to publish free of charge the photos at Digital Outback Photo for at least 3 years.
  7. The submitter also grants the right to publish the selected photos and all review comments free of charge in written form (book) in case this series would make it into a book.
  8. All photographs have to be original copyright of the submitter. No work which needs a model release form will be accepted
  9. The submitter writes some note about himself and his work (goals)
  10. The submitter write a short abstract about his photo (where, when, how)
  11. There are no limitations as to subject matter or style. We are very open to interpret this rule
  12. Photos can be color or B&W
  13. We need the submitters full name, phone number, address and valid email address. This is to ensure that we talk to a real person. Only the name will be disclosed to the public.
