We live in San Benito County (50 miles South-East of San Jose). The landscape is dominated by gorgeous rolling hills (often with oak trees). This year it rained a lot and these hills are as green as it gets (soaked). Just after major periods of rain we go out and photograph these hills when patches of sun and shade paint them.

Gear

  • Full frame DSLRs: Nikon D3s, Canon 5D Mark II and Canon 5D IR modified.
  • Lenses: Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR, Canon 70-200mm f/4 IS

This is probably the most interesting time of the year to photograph the hills in San Benito County. We are often out and chase the light. That said, we also like them in Summer with their "golden" look. Unfortunately there are hardly ever interesting clouds in summer.

Note: These images are all part of out March 2010 Gallery.
