New front
page photo "Feasting George"

While organizing portfolio photos we came across
"George" and hope it also makes you smile. Your are
not allowed to get closer than 15 feet to a sea otter. But we
were in a harbor and George (so called by the people in the harbor)
approached us (clearly violating the rules :-) ) |

10/13/2004 Peter
iNova & Uwe Steinmueller's new e-book "DSLR: Nikon D70"
order here and get free shipping (a $6.50
value)

This is the first collaboration of Peter iNova and
Uwe Steinmueller. The core of the book is clearly Peter's work
while Uwe added some content about Photoshop Layers and RAW processing.
What we always liked about Peter's e-books is that he understands
to spread fun about photography in his writing. Of course we are
biased but still highly recommend this new e-book to all current
and future D70 owners.

Michael Reichmann writes some ideas about this so important subject.
Very often seeing without a camera is so much more important than
looking through the viewfinder.

New Firmware 1.0.5 from Canon for the EOS 20D
Canon posted a new version that should fix all the previous problems
that we had reported. We performed the upgrade ourselves and had
not problems. But follow the instructions word by word (e.g. don't
forget to remove the lens and charge your battery full). |

Official note by Canon Inc. USA about the
20D camera lockup.
we got the following note from Canon Inc. USA:
"Canon Inc. has acknowledged the EOS 20D lock-up issue as
follows:
Canon is aware of this [EOS 20D lock-up] issue; it is currently
being investigated. It seems to occur very rarely, under extremely
limited conditions. If it does occur, you can remove and reinsert
the battery to restore your camera to its normal condition. Please
note that this issue does not affect images taken with the camera.
We plan to release a firmware update for download from the Web
when the appropriate countermeasures are determined; we will let
you know the schedule for this release when it becomes available."
As we ourselves experienced a lockup we know that the outlined
solution works. We keep you updated. |
