2/27/2005 B/W or Color #1?

2/27/2005 HP Photosmart 8450 diary (reposted)

We repost this review because it may have gone lost in the PMA 2005 news. The 8450 has probably a lot in common with the new 8750 except of the new cartridges introduced for the 8450.

2/25/2005 Bjørn Rørslett reviews a Nikon D2x (source www.naturfotograf.com)

We have a very hight respect of Bjorn's work. He is an expert in using Nikon digital SLRs (from the D1 on).The D2x seems to be the great camera that Nikon users waited for. Bjorn also shows advantages for Nikon using a 1.5x multiplier.

2/24/2005 LensFix for Mac users

2/21/2005 PMA 2005: Known Issues with RawShooter essentials

2/21/2005 PMA 2005: Colorbyte shows ImagePrint for HP DJ 30, 90 and 130

We hope to have a sample of IP for the HP DJ 30 soon. This maybe the ticket to great B/W for this line of printers. Colobyte is showing the software at the HP booth.

2/20/2005 DOP2000 add-on for RawShooter essentials (1MB)

To keep our readers current with main raw converters we just released an add-on to feature the new RawShooter (adds to chapter 3). Recent updates featured Canon EVU and DPP. These updates require our e-books DOP2000 or DOP2000LE for better understanding.

2/20/2005 PMA 2005: Pixmantec announced new "RawShooter essentials" raw converter

We are the first to bring you a full preview of a very exciting new raw converter (sorry PC only).

2/19/2005 PMA 2005: HP Designjet 90 printer announced

The DJ 90 can print up to 18x24" and fall in between the DJ 30 and DJ 130. We find this a very attractive size starting at $995 street price.

2/19/2005 PMA 2005: HP Photosmart 8750 Professional printer announced

The 8750 also introduces the new improved ink cartridges HP 101 & 102. The estimated street price is $499.

2/19/2005 HP Photosmart 8450 diary

The 8450 has probably a lot in common with the new 8750 except of the new cartridges introduced for the 8450.

2/18/2005 PMA 2005: Olympus announced 3 new 4/3 lenses (source DPReview)

2/18/2005 PMA 2005: Canon has announced new 8MP Digital Rebel XT (350D)

Rebel XT without/with optional grip

The new and enhanced Rebel XT will sell as kit for about $999. The standard Rebel will continue to be available at the new $200 lower street price of $799 for the kit. There will be also a new EF-S 60mm macro lens for the Canon S-mount cameras: Rebel, Rebel XT and 20D.

Phil Askey at DPReview has a first hands on preview.

2/18/2005 Smudging with the Epson R800 Glossy prints

Initially we thought the Epson R800 US profiles were pretty good. This is not true in quite a few situations: Green foliage and shadow areas. Read what you can do to solve this issue.

We know the work from both of them, Bill and Charlie are not only master printers but also known as great teachers.

Bill Atkinson has also a Mineral photograph show at the Ansel Adams Gallery till 3/20. Incidentally Charlie Cramer will be next from 3/22 to 4/30.

2/15/2005 Canon EOS 20Da, Japan Only (Source DP Review)

We mention this camera although it may never be sold in the US because it features a first DSLR build for IR photography and with a live preview on the LCD possible though a partially transmissive mirror. The live previews could enable in future cameras an exposure check before you actually take the picture like we have in many high end digicams today.

2/13/2005 Canon 1Ds Mk. II rock abstract

We post again a sample crop in 10x8" @300PPI (as if the full frame would be printed 30" wide)

2/12/2005 PMA 2005: New Epson R1800 A3 sized printer announced (source Imaging Resource)

This is more a confirmation than a really new announcement (was released in Japan earlier). It is good news that the R800 gets a larger brother. It will be more than interesting whether the future professional printers will also use the same ink set.

2/12/2005 What better profiles can do for the Epson R800 printer

We had for some time long discussions on our forums about the R800 image quality. Good profiles can play a very important role to get even better details from this printer.
