"You and Bettina should be very proud of this work. The images are truly beautiful. I think the arrangement in the book is excellent -- the facing images complement each other very well." Mark Saperstein 1/11/2006

1/1/2006 Happy New Year 2006 to all our Readers!

12/30/2005 Bettina & Uwe's Top 10 Photos from 2005

Looking back at the work of the last year is challenging and can also be exciting. Overall we believe that 2005 was again a good year for our photography.

12/29/2005 Website PS-Scripts

Scripts for Photoshop can be more than just useful. I just found on this site a little gem "Close without save" that I needed urgently when converting layered PSD/TIFFs to JPG. Before I had this script the actions always failed because the original file contained inactive alpha masks.

12/29/2005 Bibble Labs release Bibble 4.5

12/29/2005 Using Aperture to select portfolio images

12/29/2005 DOP back online!

We had for about 24 hours one of our worst outages so far. Sometimes the internet is a fragile place to be. We and the people at our ISP suffered a lot because we want our readers to have 24/7 access to our information. Sorry for the inconvenience.

12/27/2005 Reminder: Fotoespresso 4/2005 published

12/27/2005 The making of the book "California Earthframes" update

The printed book is now here (arrived 12/23/2005). We have to prepare for packaging and will start selling early January 2006. Thanks for your patience.

12/24/2005 We wish all our readers happy Holidays

12/23/2005 Aperture: Note on non-destructive image editing

12/23/2005 Apple Aperture Diary started

Right now Apple Aperture is the most controversial photo workflow application in the market. Our diary checks out what Aperture can do for the advanced photographer.

12/23/2005 Digital Outback Photo now also works with high end Mac

In the past we often mentioned that we mainly use PCs and had only an older Powerbook to test in some cases on a Mac. We bought now a Quad Mac: 2x 500GB disks, 8GB memory and the 6600 graphics card. Now nothing is in our way to review Apple Aperture and other Mac only applications. By the way we like the Mac hardware way more (very fine design) than the usual PC plastic boxes. Our setup allows to switch keyboard, mouse and DVI from a dual Xeon PC to the Mac reasonable fast.

12/21/2005 Nikon D200 Diary started

Probably one of the most awaited cameras of the year. At a price of $1,700 US the D200 has a feature set that is new in this price range. Read our review diary to follow us exploring the Nikon D200.

12/20/2005 New Porfolio Invitation "Fog #1" now open till 1/15/2006 12pm PST

12/20/2005 EOS 5D Firmware Update Version 1.0.3

Canon Japan posts new 5D firmware. Because we do not have a 5D at hand we cannot verify this firmware update. Always follow the instructions by the word. We actually recommend to wait unless you have major troubles using this camera.

12/18/2005 "Briot Speaks" an audio CD by Alain Briot (source press release)

Alain writes "I just announced a new audio CD called "Briot Speaks". It features a 4 hr series of conversations between Natalie and I and focuses on our experience being artists in business. It is the audio version of my upcoming artist in business essay, although the contents of the CD and the essay will be totally different as the two medium allow for a different form of expression. Audio is much more direct and immediate."
