with Uwe at the Great Bear Coffee shop in Los Gatos?
Many know this picture from our
reviews. Why did we use this scene? Because we like the look
and the coffee shop. Through a discussion in our news
group we came up the the idea
to meet there 12/13/2005 11am. You are welcome to join us if
you have time. The Bear Coffee shop is at 19 N. Santa Cruz Avenue,
Los Gatos. Please drop me a note if
you plan to come. We have no agenda except to meet and chat.

Atkinson publishes a "bouquet" of 48 comparison profiles
for the Epson Stylus Pro 9800 with Premium Luster Photo Paper
(250)
Bill wrote us: "For each of six different
print quality setups, one detailed and careful set of measurement
data
(5 copies
of
16x16x16 patches) was used to create eightdifferent variations,
using different profile making software and software options.
For the first time, photographers will be able to open one of
their own images in Photoshop and soft-proof or make test prints
with each of a number of different perceptual mappings, so they
can choose for themselves which profile works best for that particular
image.
Also, before purchasing an expensive profile making software
package, you can make an informed choice of which one gives the
best results for your personal preferences and the kind of images
that you usually make.
The profiles and documentation may be downloaded by going to
www.billatkinson.com and
clicking the link at the bottom of the page."
We consider this a major service for the fine
art photographers community by Bill Atkinson.

12/1/2005 Uwe's
Nikkor Lenses

We have updated our Nikkor lens
page. You will find that we use close the same set of lenses
on the Nikon cameras as we use on the Canon
system. Actually we started digital with
the Nikon D1/D1x, then added a Canon system which very much mirrored
what we used on the Nikons. Now going dual
system we have about the same lens set for
both systems. With the D2x we are a bit more prepared for the
longer range to also photograph wildlife.
