DPP
first step internally in some cases 8bit
Thanks to our reader Waldek it was discovered
that Canon DPP 2.0.3 (not some older versions) sometimes truncates
data to 8 bit in an initial processing step. Otherwise DPP works
full in 16 bit. In this thread
Canon confirms this bug and will be fixed it in the next version.
We had made Canon aware of this problem and are glad that Canon
responded very fast.

Basically Photoshop CS 2 will not be optimized
for Intel Macs and only work under Rosetta (probably quite a bit
slower). Adobe plans to have a UB (universal binary) Beta of Lightroom
soon.
